Agro-ecological protection of mango orchards in Réunion

Mango producers in Reunion are faced with many phytosanitary problems: Orthops palus Taylor bug (Heteroptera: Miridae); Flower midge Procontarinia mangiferae Felt (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae); fruit flies Cerati-tis capitata (Wiedemann), Ceratitis rosa Karsch and Bactrocera zonata (Saunders) (Diptera: Tephritidae), thrips, scale insects and other bio-aggressors (powdery mildew, anthracnose).

In 2011, as an alternative to chemical control, which has shown its limits and its dangers, a dozen partners from Réunion in research, experimentation, training and agricultural development, and a dozen mango producers joined forces to test the principles of agro-ecological crop protection in the field.
