Senegalese Institute of Agricultural Research

The main missions of ISRA are:

• The design and execution of research programs on plant, forest, animal and fish production and on the rural economy;
• The creation of scientific knowledge, the generation of technological innovations and the development of decision support tools for the improvement of the agricultural sector;
• Valorization and transfer of research results;
• Promotion and training in research through research;
• The development of scientific cooperation both inter-African and international as well as with Senegalese research institutions and universities;
• Undertake and develop research on plant, animal, forestry and fish production and on rural socio-economics with the aim of contributing to the increase in agricultural production and its sustainability. ISRA's priority research themes focus on agronomic, animal, forestry, fisheries and rural socio-economy production in the different ecological zones of Senegal: dry and humid continental rainfed zone, irrigated continental zone, coastal zone and maritime zone;
• The generation of knowledge and appropriate technologies to achieve the objective of food security for populations, the creation of jobs and wealth and hence the economic, social, scientific and cultural development of the country.
  - Promote the training of national researchers, development technicians, producers and students, by encouraging it and participating in it through appropriate channels;
• Work to develop inter-African and international scientific cooperation in the area of its competence.

In addition to these missions, the institute conducts, for the benefit of investors, project studies in the agricultural field (technical and economic studies).
