UR Aïda: Agroecology and sustainable intensification of annual crops
The Aïda unit is positioned on the intensification and sustainability of the production of annual crops in quantity and, when relevant, in quality, in particularly constrained tropical environments. For this, his research aims to fully exploit available resources, by mobilizing the ecological processes that govern their dynamics within agrosystems.
It uses, in an articulated way, all the technical components and all the related disciplines contributing to this full development, whether they affect integrated management trophic resources or that of bio-aggressors, including varieties. It develops a wide range of evaluation methods and tools for different purposes, different interlocutors and at different scales including modeling or analysis of spatial information.
It claims, by mobilizing agronomic engineering, to go as far as proposing innovative systems and concrete technical options that can be co-designed and then adapted with producers and local actors. It aims to document major societal issues and fuel related debates: food security, major agronomic and environmental balances (carbon, water, minerals) and the interactions of agro-ecosystems with biodiversity and climate change.
