  • The project is part of the extension of the Zambazamba project, an IWRM pilot project implemented in the municipality of Nasandratrony since March 2014. In order to best enhance the investments made in terms of Drinking Water Supply (AEP) by the Decentralized Cooperation program between the Metropolis of Lyon (ML) and the Haute-Matsiatra Region (RHM), the various technical, institutional and financial partners of this project wished to plan its replication in 6 other municipalities and 9 other catchment areas of the Region Upper Matsiatra.

  • The general objective of Kolorano (sustainable water management in Malagasy) is to reconcile water security and food security for populations in the catchment areas of intervention.

  • R1. Water: reduction of pressure on the resource or even increase in the resource
    R2. Climate: reduction of greenhouse gas emissions via the promotion/dissemination of SRA/SRI, sequestration of CO2 in the biomass of introduced species and in the soil
    A3. Biodiversity: increase in local biodiversity through the dissemination of agro-ecological practices and the establishment of new agro-forestry species
    R4. Increase in the income of producers supported in the development of their production systems
    R5. Limitation of conflicts of use between drinking water and irrigation water

    Agrisud promotes economic recovery through the creation of very small family businesses (TPE), particularly in the agricultural sector. These VSEs are viable and sustainable, because they are economical and agro-ecological, because they are well anchored in the local market.
